Planned Parenthood Receives Awards for Mobile Website and “Am I Pregnant?” Widget
13th Annual Web Health Awards Honor Top Digital Health Resources
(New York, NY) – Planned Parenthood Federation of America was selected as a winner in the 13th annual Web Health Awards program. This competition — held twice each year — recognizes the nation’s best digital health resources.
“We were delighted to participate in the 2011 Web Health Awards competition, and are honored to be selected as a winner,” said Rebecca Willett, national director of online services. “Planned Parenthood is committed to expanding access to health education and services through a variety of new and engaging tools.”
Planned Parenthood Mobile received a Gold Award for Mobile Website. In addition, the all access widget “Am I Pregnant?” which helps women find out if it’s time to take a pregnancy test, won a Merit Award for Web-Based Resource/Tool.
The winning entries were chosen from more than 500 submissions, and were judged by a panel of distinguished experts in digital health media based on their content, format, success in reaching the targeted audience, and overall quality.
The Web Health Awards program is organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields. Other well-known HIRC programs include the 18th annual National Health Information Awards, which annually recognizes the nation’s best consumer health programs and materials for non-digital resources, and two national “Fitness Day” events: the 10th annual National Women’s Health & Fitness Day and the 15th annual Family Health & Fitness Day USA.
Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and advocate. We believe that everyone has the right to choose when or whether to have a child, and that every child should be wanted and loved. Planned Parenthood affiliates operate nearly 800 health centers nationwide, providing medical services and sexuality education for millions of women, men, and teenagers each year. We also work with allies worldwide to ensure that all women and men have the right and the means to meet their sexual and reproductive health care needs.
